DETERMINING A “FAIR MARKET NANNY SALARY”When factoring a salary for a nanny, you need to take many things into consideration:-
Education
Does she hold a degree in Early Childhood, Child Psychology, etc.
Is she CPR/1st Aid Cert.or an INA Credentialed Nanny? Or has she atteneded nanny training courses/workshops/seminars?
Actual hands-on experience -
Does she have past experience that matches your needs?
(For example: has she cared for children the same ages as yours?Which is very important since it is quite different to care for an infant than a toddler, pre-schooler, pre-teen, etc.)
Special talents Can she swim, tutor, speak another language, etc.
Quality of nannies references
Does every reference only have glowing things to say? or are there many areas of concern?
Level of job responsibility
Will she be responsible for family laundry, or only child(ren), will she have to cook? Clean? Shop? Run errands, coordinate/supervise workers in the home, etc.
